trippin' out.

the photographs i uploaded were just some of many that i took while walking around brick lane and covent garden with friends. not taking ourselves too seriously (the wrestling mask says it all). there is something about the atmosphere of being around people that take you as you come, that you can laugh and joke with, with no real offence taken either way, that makes the simplest of days out better.

although they look mainly random there is a general idea, people within there environment, alot of these pictures fit my main theme of work and will feature as primary source for painting/ drawing on what i explained before (theme). i will also edit them where necessary with simple filters for different effects..

..have got a new sketchbook and have already found some inspiration in ice cream cones.

odd future.

So, finally after a month or so of waiting I get a text from my parents (who opened my mail...) telling me I received an acceptance letter from Camberwell college for my foundation. It is what I wanted, although everyone else seemed more excited about it than me, in my own subdued way im am happy. I danced a bit behind closed doors. Something recently had clicked and I feel alot more motivated towards my art, maybe some self belief, I feel like I really can take this somewhere now, where as before it always felt so vague and almost empty. Last verse of oldie by OF, not everyones cup of tea, but hearing it motivates me "not only are we talented, we rad as f***". Its easy now to put your head in a different place and effectively leave behind what youre doing now. But im just going to continue taking everyday as it comes and not planning/ thinking too much  (what I always have) and enjoy myself.

Trip to london this weekend hopefully should get some interesting photographs, and I am starting a side sketchbook aside from everything I do, just to note my brain down.

liar.

there is something powerful in these photographs, the juxtaposition of the shining silver/white pearls and the deep rich purple lipstick against the black background make them interesting. the way the lipstick is smudged across the beads and slightly on the teeth gives them an imperfect quality...
in truth i took these for my sisters school assignment. i liked them though, something different. No.2 is my favorite.

inside.

being stuck inside all day. sick. you'd think a day off would be welcome. the sun thought otherwise and teased me from my window all day while i caught up on my sketchbook.. thought id take a tea break and take a picture.
been listening to Band of Horses all day, so summer. cannot wait to be chilling in the sunshine this year with some as cool as people.

filler #3 - b&w

some old yet recent shots of a trip to covent garden, planning on getting the camera out more often, shooting more of this 'random' photography. capturing days out, places, memories. the black and white added just because it looks good.. and because im on to looking at street photography in my art sketchbook, and these fit perfectly with my theme.

Borderlands.

In the same disappointing process of churning out work in build up to an exam in art. There is nothing exciting about this in terms of art. Luckily I am enjoying my idea so far. "Combinations & Alliances" as a theme doesn't offer too many original starting points. But I feel slamming Estes and Hopper together in terms of style and approach, 'combining people and there environment', using a sense of anonymity and a hyper realist technique could turn out a pretty good outcome. The research and practice in between is all part of the process, and will help me, i just dont like the set amounts and points you need to cover to meet a grade (always have had a problem that someone can grade artwork (will explain later))...
But for now I am enjoying some Borderlands. (great theme music)

filler #2

cherrybomb

5 minutes free handing with a laptop.. this is rubbish but i like the idea.

need a tablet. computer. money. job. its all well and good for messing around now, but i would like to get slightly more serious with things.

idea: something that annoys me being artistic, is when someone judges an artwork purely based on its physical aesthetic, i too am one to say that something is rubbish, but do take time to fully appreciate something taking the artists intentions into account, allowing you to agree/ disagree and form your own opinion.
...this is still rubbish.

fallen off.

havent exactly posted much. turns out school dominates all at this time of year. easter break, then summer. oh, and the end of 6th form. it really has been an interesting time, i met some good people, good friends and one amazing person. its just sad that some things have to end too soon. and thats not a reference about school. the worst part is, i never got that picture to remember.

these have no reference, this is just what im feeling, listen scar tissue
